The story of 996 Holdings Group begins with my grandmother, Ola Pearl Paschal. She was the daughter of sharecroppers, left school after the sixth grade, and moved from Washington, Georgia to Athens with her sister to build a different life. In an era when women were routinely blocked from loans and deeds, the bank didn’t realize her sister “Willie Mae Paschal” was a woman—or that two sisters were standing together behind the application. They got approved.
That modest house became the first of many in our family. It wasn’t just a roof; it was proof—proof that ownership creates options, stability, and pride. Those keys unlocked a vision that shaped every generation after hers.
